Wedding parties and receptions are individually customized and given personal attention throughout your weekend. A picturesque Vermont village backdrop, delectable meals, and first-class service in a beautiful historic inn guarantee you will have that memorable storybook beginning. While you are responsible to write the remaining chapters, a wedding weekend at The Old Tavern is a perfect start to the rest of your life with your partner.

Ceremonies

A variety of lovely indoor and outdoor settings on the Tavern grounds are available for ceremonies. A popular location is by The Old Tavern's picturesque swimming pond.

Grafton also has two historical churches located just steps from The Old Tavern. The Brick Church is used during the summer and the White Church is used in the spring, fall and winter.

Dinner

Elegant wedding meals are served in the dining room, which is comprised of three unique adjoining rooms -- the Garden, Formal and Pine rooms. The dining area is filled with period antiques and a vast collection of original artwork. Meals are served on silver, Villeroy & Boch china and crystal.

Our restaurant is a Four Diamond award winner. Chef David A. Smith and his staff will create the wedding dinner of your dreams.

The dining staff can also prepare special lunches, rehearsal dinners and breakfasts throughout the weekend for you and your guests.

Reception

Dancing, music and other wedding festivities are held in Phelps Barn. The Phelps Barn was a carriage house for Old Tavern in the 1800s. Today, it features a bar and loft with a dance floor and seating areas. The decor -- complete with antique quilts and historical photos -- is a perfect backdrop for a Vermont wedding.

Accommodations

Forty six rooms, including seven suites and four rental houses, are individually decorated and include private baths,* sitting areas and most with air conditioning. You and your guests will enjoy the finest in accommodations and amenities.

Onsite amenities include outdoor tennis courts, raised paddle tennis court, fitness center, wireless internet service, natural swimming pool (seasonal) and the best porch rockers in Vermont. Grafton Ponds Recreation Center offers year-round activities, which are free for Inn guests. In the summer, Grafton Ponds offers more than 2,000 acres of mountain biking and hiking. In the winter, it offers 30 kilometers of Nordic skiing (with snowmaking on select trails), snowshoeing, ice skating and a 600-foot snow tubing hill.

The Grafton experience also includes a visit to the award winning Grafton Village Cheese Company, the blacksmith shop, three fine art galleries, unique gift shops and two museums. Picnic areas and walking trails are scattered throughout Grafton Village.

Four season resorts Okemo Mountain (35 mins.) and Stratton Mountain (30 mins.) offer skiing/snowboarding in the winter and golf and other activities in the summer. The Tater Hill golf course is located 20 mins. away. Many antiquing options are available in Grafton and the surrounding areas including Weston and Chester. Manchester Village is famous for its outlet shopping (40 mins).

*All rooms at The Old Tavern have private baths, except the Tuttle House, which has three bathrooms for five rooms. This is an ideal rental house for a group of friends or families.
