Frank Wallace & Nancy Knowles DuoSunday, July 6: Frank Wallace & Nancy Knowles Duo

16th Century Spanish Music
8 p.m. show
Phelps Barn at The Old Tavern

Together, this husband-wife duo put on quite the show. American Record Guide calls Frank Wallace's guitar compositions “exciting, unpredictable, and fresh.” Aside from the beauty of Nancy Knowles’ voice, audiences and critics comment most about her engaging presence on stage. Their performance will feature “Renaissance Masterworks with lute and voice,” one of their more popular shows.

Wallace's works showcase the classical guitar in solo, duo trio and quartet, as well as in chamber works with voice, flute and cello. His many influences include blues and jazz to medieval and avant garde. Wallace has written over 75 songs set to classical guitar and set to poetry from many sources, including Pulitzer-prize winning poets. Nancy Knowles’ talents and down-to-earth humor has gained her loyal audiences in the U.S. and Europe. Knowles’ enchanting soprano voice can be heard on seven recordings, including the hit motion picture soundtrack, Titanic.

Wallace and Knowles now live in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire, where they both teach at the Two Rivers Music School.
